Colorado's Ocean Journey
A new, large aquarium was opened in Denver, Colorado in the Summer of 1999. The
management was aware that denitrification systems would substantially reduce
their operating costs. They therefore ordered separate EcoMat denitrification
systems for each of the following three exhibits:
The 320,000 gallon Ocean exhibit
The 180,000 gallon Sea of Cortez exhibit
The 60,000 gallon Sea Otter exhibit
The first two are each one cubic meter size while the third is a two cubic meter system.
The photograph below shows the system installed at the Ocean exhibit.
From right to left, the major components comprise the deaeration reactor,
EcoMat's Hall Reactor which performs the denitrification, the control system,
the foam fractionator and finally the level control tank.
